The devistating effect of AIDS in Uganda cannot be overstated. The fastest growing identifiable segement of the Ugandan population is orphans. Christians have risen to meet this challenge in a number of ways. This crisis also effects women and has led to a growing network of minsitry to women and the building of schools.

The January 17, 2000 issue of Newsweek contains an excellent cover story on the issue of AIDS orphans in Africa, including Uganda.
Sadly, there is no mention of the involvement of Christians in the effort to meet the needs of the ophans, but it does give some very significant background information.
