Village Impact

Ministry Points

The approach we use to ministry in remote villages is not simply "hit and run" evangelism, but to seek to impact the entire village. You continually hear of millions if not billions of dollars going to foreign aid from governments around the world Yet when you visit a remote village in Uganda (and I assume everywhere else) you are hard pressed to find an example of even $1.00 in aid making any impact in that village. The process outlined below is part of a 10 year plan. Some we have completed in 8 years, others have taken 12.

Our model of ministry seeks to make a lasting impact on the villages we work in. We employ the following steps to produce permanent change but it should be noted the completion of the list below varies from village to village and the resources available there.

  1. Plant a church through open air crusades and hut to hut visitation and evangelism
  2. Providing to those in need items such as mosquito nets, foam mattresses, pots, pans, dishes, crutches, wheelchairs, solar lights, etc.
  3. Once an initial church structure is completed, we begin an elementary school in the building, often for children who have never had a school before
  4. Build a medical clinic and locate a trained nurse who can operate a clinic established for basic medical needs
  5. Drill a deep well to provide safe, clean water
  6. Teach classes on personal hygiene and sanitation
  7. Teach and demonstrate business and agricultural sustainability
  8. Provide chickens and goats that not only produce food, milk, and eggs for families, but that also general a surplus that can be sold and provide some cash income
  9. Teach and demonstrate soil maintenance and replenishment
  10. Help villagers learn to add value to what they produce so they can reap the benefit not only of producing the raw crops, but of also selling directly to the consumer. It is very common for the villagers to do all the work, take all the risks (drought, insects, disease) harvest the crops and then sell them to a middleman who then sells them for export and makes most of the profit).
