Blindness Rate Worries Muhwezi
HEALTH minister Jim Muhwezi has expressed concern over the spread of blindness in Uganda and elsewhere. Muhwezi was commissioning Arua Hospital's Ear, Nose, Throat and Eye Centre on Tuesday. He called on the public to help the Government implement the national health policy and health strategic plan, which emphasise the provision of a minimum health care package. Muhwezi said the people needed to be sensitised on how to contain the disability. He said currently there were only 36 ophthalmologists and 13 cataract surgeons in Uganda. The Norwegian Development Agency, Lion Aid Norway and the Government built the centre. |
